Speaking to reporters, Wike confirmed that the expiration of the emergency will lead to the reinstatement of full governmental functions, including the return of the state governor, the state assembly, and grassroots representatives to their official duties.
Wike stated, “By the 18th of September, the state of emergency will expire. That will mean that the state governor and the state assembly will come back to their job, and then we’ll have representatives at the grassroots level.”
This announcement marks a hopeful turning point for the state’s political stability and governance, signaling the end of an exceptional administrative period.
The state of emergency, which had temporarily suspended certain governmental operations, was initially imposed as a measure to address pressing security and administrative challenges.
