Following the release of the troubling clip, which was titled “Every night just for her to sleep,” the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) initiated an investigation due to the significant backlash from Nigerians who believed the baby was being given alcohol to fall asleep.

In a subsequent video, the unnamed woman defended her actions, stating that the original footage was intended as a staged performance for entertainment purposes.

She explained that she had cleaned out an empty alcohol sachet and filled it with a soft drink before filming.

To back her assertion, she mentioned having another video that shows her adding the soft drink to the sachet.

The woman confessed that the stunt was meant to attract online attention but recognized that it ultimately had negative consequences.

She stated, “About the video I posted earlier, that is not Action Bitters. It is Coke. I poured Coke into the sachet. Since I posted the video, people have been dragging me on social media,” she said.

“To be sincere, it was Coke I poured into the Action Bitters sachet. I even have a video on my phone showing when I was doing it.

“My baby is just five months old. I would never give her Action Bitters. I am not that kind of mother. I do not even take it myself.

“To clear the air, it was Coke I poured into the sachet, and I washed it before using it. I was just trying to create content, nothing more. We are begging Nigerians, please forgive us.”
