Video: Xi Jinping hails new era in Russia-China ties

Chinese President Xi Jinping has declared that Russian-Chinese relations are entering a “new era of development, a new phase of development,” as he marked the 80th anniversary of victory in the World Anti-Fascist War—known as World War II in the West.
In a video clip, Xi emphasised the shared resolve of both nations, stating, “It shows determination of our countries to defend the outcomes of WWII and international justice.”
The footage featured joint visuals of Xi and Russian President Vladimir Putin alongside the flags of China and Russia, symbolizing deepening strategic alignment.
The remarks echo an earlier statement from Putin, describing the partnership as a “global stabilizing factor” amid turbulent times.
Putin highlighted ongoing coordination on bilateral issues and multilateral forums like the United Nations and BRICS group.
This comes amid a flurry of late-2025 diplomatic overtures, including Xi’s New Year message to Putin pledging to elevate ties to “new heights” in 2026.
