Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has fired sharp words at a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gathering, proclaiming the end of internal “vagabonds” who plagued the party for a decade.

Speaking to cheering supporters amid welcomes for new members, Makinde directly targeted expelled rivals like Nyesom Wike and Ayo Fayose, expelled in November 2025 for anti-party activities.
“In Yorubaland, we always say that if you see a house or compound that is peaceful, the vagabond in that house has not grown up,” Makinde stated.
“The vagabonds in the PDP grew up in 2015. They had their time, and for 10 years they practised vagabondage in the PDP. But they were expelled in November 2025. So, no more vagabonds in the PDP.”
Makinde, gesturing emphatically against a backdrop of PDP colours and amid tight security, dismissed Wike’s overtures toward Oyo PDP.
“Someone said he has interest in PDP in Oyo State. Ask him, what has he done for the PDP in Rivers State that he comes from?” he challenged.
He capped his remarks with a Yoruba proverb laced with mockery, “The song I will use for them is ‘Omo Alakisa tohun jo lo ru, mo pe boya Ile a mo basin’—they are wearing rags dancing around in the midnight, the day will soon break for them.”
This underscores ongoing PDP fractures since 2015 and Wike’s shift to FCT Minister under the APC.
