The United States of America’s former President, Barrack Obama has reacted to an attack launched at the former President, Donald Trump during his rally yesterday in Butler, Pennsylvania.
From the incident, a security man and an audience member were dead, and two individuals were critically injured.
Reacting to the incident on Sunday, Obama through his X (formally Twitter) said people should be relieved that former President Trump wasn’t seriously injured.
He stated, “There is absolutely no place for political violence in our democracy. Although we don’t yet know exactly what happened, we should all be relieved that former President Trump wasn’t seriously hurt, and use this moment to recommit ourselves to civility and respect in our politics. Michelle and I are wishing him a quick recovery.”
Dailyeconomy on Saturday reported that President Joe Biden spoke with Trump after the incident where Biden decried the violence in remarks Saturday night and said in a statement that he’s “grateful” Trump is safe.
However, according to the Aljazeera report on Sunday, the Trump rally shooting suspect was a registered Republican.
The Republican Party, also known as the Grand Old Party, is one of the two major contemporary political parties in the United States. It emerged as the main political rival of the then-dominant Democratic Party in the mid-1850s, and the two parties have dominated American politics ever since. However, Trump emerged as the Republican party’s flagbearer after winning the Indiana primary election.
According to the Aljazeera report, The Federal Bureau of Investigation named 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks as the attacker in the assassination attempt on Trump and he was a registered Republican, according to voter records cited by the AP news agency.
