The outgoing President and Chairman, Governing Board of the Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB), Prince Babatunde Oguntade, has outlined key achievements recorded under his leadership over the past two years, describing his tenure as a period of growth, collaboration, and renewed visibility for the insurance broking profession in Nigeria.

Speaking at a press briefing in Lagos today Tuesday, where he introduced the incoming President, Mrs. Ekeoma Ezeibe, he expressed deep appreciation to stakeholders throughout his tenure.

He urged continued support for the incoming leadership, expressing optimism for a greater Council and a stronger insurance industry everyone would be proud of.

Reflecting on his administration’s strides, Oguntade highlighted the Council’s strengthened relationship with the industry regulator, the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM), which, he said, led to improved compliance, risk management, and stakeholder confidence. He commended NAICOM’s leadership for its inclusive and collaborative approach to industry regulation.

A major development in the sector, he noted, was the enactment of the Nigerian Insurance Industry Reforms Act (NIIRA) 2025, which he described as “the best thing that has happened to the industry in recent times.”

On capacity building, he said the Council invested heavily in training and workshops to keep members abreast of global best practices and regulatory updates. He also praised the Council’s Training Committee for ensuring that brokers remained well equipped to deliver professional service.

The outgoing president further emphasized membership engagement, noting that more professionals from the underwriting sector had joined the NCRIB due to its open and supportive environment.

On the visibility front, Oguntade said the Council had become a leading voice in the industry through proactive communication, increased public engagement, and enhanced brand recognition.

He added that several partnerships were forged locally and internationally, including a landmark visit by the Chief Executive of the British Insurance Brokers Association (BIBA), Mr. Graeme Trudgill, the first of its kind.

Oguntade also announced that the Olola Olabode Ogunlana NCRIB Annex Building project was over 70 per cent completed, describing it as a testament to the Council’s commitment to institutional growth. He lauded Olola Ogunlana, who recently received a Lifetime Achievement Award from BIBA, for his pioneering contributions to the insurance profession.
