Why I can’t sign artists – Tiwa Savage

Nigeria singer Tiwatope Savage-Balogun alias Tiwa Savage has revealed that she has no plans to sign upcoming artists.

Tiwa Savage in a recent interview with Forbes Africa, said managing musicians can be extremely stressful, and she doesn’t feel equipped to handle that responsibility, expressing his belief that artists can be a handful, and the pressure of managing them can be overwhelming.

She said, “Everyone always says to me, ‘When are you going to sign an artiste?’ I don’t think I have the gift to sign another artiste, because artists are stressful.

“I could just be sleeping, and then I will wake up and my artist is trending for something else.”

She thereby disclosed that instead of signing new artists, she wants to create opportunities for them through alternative means, revealing that she’s working on establishing a music school where aspiring musicians can hone their craft before potentially signing with a record label that can provide the support they need.
