The Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike has dismissed attempts to pressure his administration amid an ongoing workers’ strike, insisting on “reasonable dialogue” over blackmail.

The strike, now in its second week, stems from 14 demands by FCT civil servants, including better welfare packages and infrastructure improvements.

Wike highlighted the government’s proactive response during a press briefing today, noting that 10 demands have already been addressed, with commitments to review the remaining four.

“We are open to reasonable dialogue, blackmail won’t move us. If workers made 14 demands and government addressed 10, promising to look into the others, there should be room for understanding and patience,” Wike said, urging unions to prioritise negotiation.

Labour leaders, however, remain resolute, vowing to sustain the action until all issues are fully resolved.

The impasse has disrupted public services across Abuja, affecting residents and businesses.
