Woman cries for help after bandits kill family in Kwara, Peter Obi reacts

A distressing video has emerged showing an unidentified woman crying and pleading to Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq over the heartbreaking insecurity in her town, following a brutal bandit attack that claimed the lives of her husband and many others in Oke-Ode community.

Former presidential candidate Peter Obi on Tuesday expressed his deep sorrow regarding the tragedy.

Posting on his X page, Obi called the incident a “mindless act of violence” that has plunged the nation into mourning. He stressed the urgent need for a national security emergency, emphasising, “No Nigerian should live in fear in their own home.”

Obi condemned the “normalisation of tragedy” and extended his condolences, saying, “My heart goes out to the Governor and the people of Kwara State. I reassure you that you are not alone.”

He prayed for the souls of the departed to rest in peace and for the bereaved families to find strength during this difficult time.

At least 12 people, including the Baale of Ogbayo and several vigilantes, were killed in the Sunday morning attack in Ifelodun Local Government Area.

According to a statement by by Kwara State Police Command Spokesman, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, security forces responded swiftly but found the 12 vigilante members already dead.

Four injured victims were taken to the hospital, and the bodies of the deceased were evacuated.
