Nigerian football star, Ademola Lookman has penned a touching goodbye to Atalanta on social media, reflecting on nearly four years of transformative success after his €55 million move to Atlético Madrid.

In a farewell message Monday titled “Gratitude and Unforgettable Memories,”
the Nigerian star expressed profound thanks to the club, staff, teammates, and fans.

“From the moment I arrived in Bergamo, you welcomed me like one of your own and pushed me to be the best version of myself,” he wrote.

Lookman highlighted their shared history, including his iconic hat-trick in the 2024 Europa League final that ended Atalanta’s 61-year trophy drought.

He also cherished winning the 2024 African Player of the Year award while wearing Nerazzurri colours.

“Those moments, those emotions, those nights under the lights, they’re engraved in my heart,” he added, praising fans’ unwavering passion: “Your voices, your belief never faded—and together we achieved.”

Lookman arrived on loan in 2022 and evolved into Atalanta’s talismanic attacker, scoring 49 goals in 164 appearances.

His contributions helped secure multiple Champions League qualifications, cementing his legacy in Bergamo.

The emotional departure aligns with Lookman’s high-profile transfer to Atlético Madrid, where he’ll join forces with stars like Antoine Griezmann in La Liga.

It’s a major step up from his English club days, blending Serie A triumphs with fresh ambitions in Spain.

Atalanta fans flooded social media with tributes, hailing Lookman as a club legend.
