The Chairman of the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms Committee, Taiwo Oyedele has issued a stark New Year’s reminder on Thursday, urging Nigerians and social media users worldwide to rethink their online behaviour.

In a statement on Thursday, he highlighted how digital footprints—shaped by insults, curses, and abusive comments—now serve as the ultimate resume in an AI-driven job market.

Oyedele emphasised that reckless online conduct reveals more about character than any formatted document.

“When you insult, curse or abuse people online, you are not proving strength or knowledge. Rather, you’re creating a digital footprint as a toxic person who lacks emotional intelligence,” he wrote.

He pointed to the rise of AI algorithms that scour social media for insights into a person’s judgment and values.

“In today’s AI-powered world, your CV is no longer just the document you carefully format for jobs or promotions. Your real CV is the digital footprint—the posts, comments and reactions you share—those are what algorithms can see, index, and infer about your judgment, temperament, and values.”

Oyedele advocated for constructive disagreement as the path to credibility.

“Disagree if you must, but do so with facts. Challenge ideas, not people. Intelligence shows in how you disagree, not how loud you shout,” he advised, calling on readers to be intentional about their online presence in 2026.
