Zamfara Police neutralise terrorist IED on busy Tsafe road

In a swift joint operation, security forces successfully disarmed an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by suspected terrorists along the Danjibga–Kuncin Kalgo axis in Tsafe Local Government Area, averting potential disaster for commuters and residents.
The incident occurred on February 6, 2026, around 8:00 a.m., when a team from the Police EOD-CBRN Unit, Anti-Kidnapping Unit, and Military EOD, backed by heavy command support, discovered and neutralised the pressure-plate IED.
Led by SP Abdulrazak Musa Hassan, the operatives followed standard Render Safe Procedures (RSP) to safely dismantle the device.
DSP Yazid Abubakar, Police Public Relations Officer for Zamfara State Command, shared the update in a statement today, highlighting the professional execution, “The joint operation comprised personnel of the Police EOD-CBRN Unit, Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Military EOD, with heavy security backup from the Command, led by SP Abdulrazak Musa Hassan.”
The statement reads, “Following the implementation of standard Render Safe Procedures (RSP), the team professionally and safely neutralized a pressure-plate IED discovered at the location. The explosive components were successfully recovered for further forensic examination.”
A thorough sweep confirmed the area free of additional threats.
“After a thorough sweep and technical assessment of the area, it was certified free of any further IED threats, thereby ensuring the safety of commuters and residents along the axis,” Abubakar noted.
The command urged public cooperation, “The Zamfara State Police Command encouraged the members of the public to remain vigilant and continue to provide timely and credible information to security agencies.”
