The National Emergency Management Agency on Thursday confirmed that 19 victims died and 20 victims had severe injuries in a suicide bomb attack that occurred in the Kawuri Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State on Wednesday evening.
NEMA in a remark made available to Dailyeconomy noted that the NEMA Zonal Coordinator, North East with his team and relevant stakeholders visited the victims of an improvised explosive device incident on admission at Borno State General Hospital Maiduguri on Thursday.
The incident featured a suspected suicide bomber exploding herself in the middle of the masses.
NEMA in the release confirms, “The incident occurred yesterday, around 8 pm in the Kawuri Konduga LGA area of Borno state.
At about 8:05 pm after the isha prayer. A suspected suicide bomber exploded herself in the middle of the crowd.
19 victims died at the spot and 20 persons sustained serious injuries.
“The 20 persons were brought to State Specialist Hospital with support from the LGA Chairman and NEMA ERT, SEMA and other stakeholders. Those who sustained injuries were taken to Government Hospital Konduga.”
Nonetheless, NEMA verified that the collapse of a building in Busa Buji, Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, on Friday, July 11, 2024, resulted in the death of several students from Saint Academy, a school housed in the two-storey building, as reported by the Dailyeconomy on July 12.
