United States President Donald Trump has dismissed concerns about a potential third impeachment should Democrats regain control of Congress in the November midterms, quipping that he has grown skilled at the process.

Speaking to reporters outside the White House as he departed for a campaign rally in Mobile, Alabama, Trump was asked about the prospect of Democrats pursuing impeachment again.

“Well, I don’t know, but I’m getting good at it,” he replied.

He described any such effort as “a fake impeachment” and added that Republicans “could’ve done that with ‘Sleepy’ (Joe Biden), but we didn’t do it because it wouldn’t have been appropriate.”

Trump also referenced former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, saying he “had the chance to do it if I wanted, and I said, ‘That would be inappropriate,’ but with me, they like to do it.”

The remarks came as Trump campaigned intensively for Republican candidates ahead of the November 3 elections, in which control of the House and Senate is at stake.

Democrats currently hold a significant lead in generic congressional ballot polling, according to recent averages, raising the possibility they could retake the House and potentially pursue investigations or impeachment proceedings against the president.

Trump was impeached twice during his first term—in 2019 on charges related to abuse of power and obstruction of Congress, and in 2021 on a charge of incitement of insurrection tied to the January 6 Capitol attack—and was acquitted by the Senate both times. He has long characterised those proceedings as politically motivated.

The comments fit a broader pattern in which Trump has sought to frame the midterms as a referendum on his second-term agenda, including ongoing military operations involving Iran, economic policies centered on tariffs, and eff8ikorts to maintain Republican majorities in Congress.

He has simultaneously promoted other incentives for voters, such as a proposed $5,000 “Trump Dividend” for adult U.S. citizens contingent on Republican victories.
