All fresh Iran missiles intercepted — CENTCOM

United States Central Command (CENTCOM) has claimed that Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched multiple ballistic missiles at 5:45 p.m. ET on July 28, 2026, in what CENTCOM characterised as “an attempted surprise attack” against U.S. forces stationed in the Middle East.

CENTCOM disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.

“In attempted surprise attack on U.S. forces based in the Middle East. All Iranian missiles were successfully intercepted.

“At 5:45 p.m. ET today, Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps forces launched multiple ballistic missiles from Iran in an attempted surprise attack on U.S. forces based in the Middle East. All Iranian missiles were successfully intercepted. U.S. forces remain vigilant and at a high state of readiness,” CENTCOM said in a statement.

U.S. officials said the strike reportedly aimed at a U.S. base in Jordan, broke a short-lived pause in hostilities that followed President Trump’s decision to suspend U.S. operations to pursue diplomatic efforts.

In response to ongoing regional tensions marked by proxy attacks and incidents in the Strait of Hormuz, U.S. and Saudi forces carried out strikes on Iran-aligned targets in Iraq.

CENTCOM emphasised that U.S. forces continue to monitor the situation closely and remain prepared to defend U.S. personnel and interests across the region.
