The Deputy British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Jonny Baxter, has paid a courtesy visit to the Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Ogunwusi, at his palace and the Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke.
The visit was disclosed via images shared on the Commissioner’s X (formally Twitter) handle.
Baxter appreciated the opportunity the monarch gave him to pay homage and learn more about the culture of the Yoruba people.
He wrote, “Honoured to be hosted by the Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Paramount ruler of the Yoruba kingdom. Grateful for the warm reception, the opportunity to pay homage, discuss imp role of traditional rulers, and learn more about the culture of the Yoruba people.”
Meanwhile, in a separate post on Wednesday, the envoy disclosed that he also visited the State governor.
Baxter noted that he had a good discussion with the governor on exploring trade opportunities, mainly in tech and agriculture to benefit Nigeria and the United Kingdom.
He wrote, “I’ve just arrived Osun State today, kick-starting my official visit with a call on the Executive Governor H.E, Sen. Ademola Adeleke, @AAdeleke_01. Great discussions on exploring trade opportunities, particularly in tech and agriculture to benefit both the UK and Nigeria.”
