The Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) assets rose to N30.94tn at the end of April, 2026, according to data obtained by Daily Economy from the National Pension Commission (PenCom).

PenCom’s unaudited report on the pension fund industry portfolio, covering the period ended 30 April 2026—including Approved Existing Schemes, Closed Pension Fund Administrators, RSA funds, unremitted contributions at the Central Bank of Nigeria, and legacy funds—showed that total assets rose from N27.45 trillion in December 2025.

The majority of the funds, totaling N17.36 trillion, were invested in Federal Government securities. The remaining assets were allocated across corporate debt securities, money market instruments, mutual funds, as well as domestic and foreign ordinary shares.

This robust growth underscores the resilience and expanding value of Nigeria’s contributory pension industry, reflecting increasing contributions and strategic investment management across the sector.
