The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has unveiled a new cashless payment system called “Operation Go Cashless,” set to revolutionise transactions at Nigerian airports.

The initiative, developed in partnership with payment provider Paystack, will officially begin on September 29, 2025, at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

Under the new system, all payments at key revenue points—including airport access gates, car parks, and VIP/protocol lounges—will be processed electronically, marking “the end of cash collections at these locations,” FAAN stated in a statement on Friday.

The authority emphasised that the move aims “to improve operational efficiency, ensure greater transparency in revenue collection, and enhance customer convenience.”

To facilitate a smooth transition, “trained brand ambassadors have been stationed at access gates and within terminal areas to guide passengers, assist with onboarding, and provide real-time demonstrations,” according to FAAN.

Passengers will also have the option to obtain a FAAN Go Cashless Card at designated gates in Lagos and Abuja, which can be immediately activated and funded via gocashless.faan.gov.ng.

FAAN confirmed that the cashless payment system will be expanded to other airports across Nigeria in phases, underscoring its commitment “to innovation and improved service delivery.”
