FG deploys passport intervention team to UK for Nigerians in diaspora

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced the deployment of a dedicated Passport Intervention Team to the United Kingdom to process pending, new and renewal passport applications for Nigerians in the diaspora.
The team is expected to arrive in the UK on August 10, 2026, and will work in collaboration with the Nigerian High Commission to provide on-site passport enrolment and processing services in designated cities across the country.
In a statement, the NIS said the deployment was directed by the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, through the Comptroller-General of Immigration, KN Nandap.
“As part of ongoing efforts to further ease and streamline passport applications for Nigerians in the diaspora, the Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has directed the Comptroller-General of Immigration, KN Nandap, to deploy a dedicated Passport Intervention Team from the Nigeria Immigration Service Headquarters to the United Kingdom,” the statement read.
The intervention is open to applicants with pending passport applications, new applicants and Nigerians whose passports have less than one year remaining before expiry and wish to renew them.
Applicants are required to bring their completed application forms and proof of payment for the enrolment process.
However, the NIS advised applicants not to travel to any location until the official schedule, including the designated cities, dates, venues and enrolment times, is released.
“The detailed schedule for the intervention, including the designated cities, dates, venues, enrolment times and other arrangements, will be announced separately,” the service said.
The NIS added that all its digital passport application channels, including the Contactless Passport Application System, would remain operational throughout the exercise.
The home delivery service will also continue to be available to applicants.
