FG seeks stakeholder input on tax, revenue reforms in Finance Bill 2027

Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Finance has called on citizens, businesses, investors, professional bodies, civil society organisations and academics to submit proposals for the Finance Bill 2027, as the Federal Government moves to reform fiscal laws affecting taxation, revenue administration, transparency and economic regulation.
In a memo released on Friday, the ministry said the consultation was designed to give stakeholders an opportunity to contribute practical and evidence-based recommendations capable of improving Nigeria’s business environment and strengthening public revenue.
“The Federal Government is inviting Nigerians, businesses, investors, professional bodies, civil society organisations, academia and other stakeholders to submit practical, evidence-based proposals for the Finance Bill 2027,” the memo stated.
The ministry said contributions should identify specific weaknesses or gaps in existing laws and recommend amendments that could produce measurable improvements in the economy.
“This is an opportunity to help shape fiscal laws” that would “improve the ease of doing business and investment,” “strengthen tax administration and revenue mobilisation,” and “promote fiscal transparency and accountability,” it added.
The proposed reforms are also expected to reduce what the ministry described as unnecessary regulatory and administrative burdens on businesses, while supporting productivity, competitiveness and sustainable economic growth.
Stakeholders have been asked to submit structured proposals using the template provided by the ministry.
The proposals are expected to focus on practical reforms to tax policy and administration, revenue mobilisation, fiscal policy management, investment conditions and other economic regulations.
The ministry said submissions must be received on or before Friday, September 11, 2026.
Interested individuals and organisations can send their proposals by email to financebill2027@fmf.gov.ng or submit them through the online platform on the Ministry of Finance website, finance.gov.ng.
“Let’s build better fiscal laws together. Your input matters,” the ministry said.
