Organisers of the 2026 National Corporate Governance Summit have emphasised that stronger collaboration between government institutions and the private sector is essential to delivering sustainable economic growth and improving governance standards across Nigeria.

Speaking during a press conference in Lagos, members of the National Organising Committee said the summit would provide a platform for policymakers, regulators and business leaders to develop practical governance solutions capable of supporting ongoing economic reforms.
The organisers stressed that governance should serve as the foundation for effective policy implementation, institutional accountability and improved service delivery.

The two-day summit, scheduled for July 21 and 22 at the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, is expected to attract more than 500 participants, including policymakers, regulators, investors, corporate leaders, governance professionals, development partners and representatives of key public institutions.

According to the organisers, this year’s theme reflects the growing recognition that government alone cannot deliver sustainable economic development without active participation from the private sector.
Discussions during the summit will focus on strengthening governance systems that encourage policy consistency, transparency and accountability while promoting investor confidence and institutional resilience.

Participants are also expected to examine strategies for improving cooperation among government agencies, regulators and businesses to ensure more effective implementation of national development policies.

The National Organising Committee expressed optimism that the summit would generate practical recommendations capable of strengthening governance institutions and supporting Nigeria’s long-term economic competitiveness.
