ID Cabasa debunks myth on ‘street credibility’ creation, urges accurate Nigerian music history

Renowned producer ID Cabasa has rejected a widely shared online story claiming to reveal the dramatic origins of the hit track “Street Credibility” by 9ice and 2Baba, labelling it completely false.
In a post on X, Cabasa wrote, “Where did you get the from! ITS NOT TRUE! None of this is TRUE! Let’s document truths to avoid distortion to our history.”
His response targeted a viral thread that garnered hundreds of thousands of views, fabricating details like 2Baba arriving late to a studio session, 9ice questioning his own rising fame, and the song’s chorus emerging spontaneously during an impromptu jam.
The debunking highlights ongoing challenges with unverified music anecdotes spreading for engagement on social media.
The original poster quickly apologised, admitting to presenting unchecked info as fact, and welcomed Cabasa’s invitation to share the authentic account.
