Ikoyi Golf Club’s annual Veteran’s Invitational programme to focus on inclusivity, charity, sports devt

Ikoyi Club 1938, Golf Section, has announced its Veteran’s Invitational kitty, which celebrates camaraderie, skill, and the enduring values of golf among its veterans.
The Veteran’s Invitational, scheduled to take place at the Ikoyi Club Golf Section on April 4, promises to showcase skills and sportsmanship, attracting golf enthusiasts from diverse backgrounds. With a range of exciting activities planned tournament is set to captivate members and veterans.
Speaking during a press conference on the upcoming programme in Lagos, Captain, Ikoyi Club Golf Section, Mr Tade Adekunle, expressed the club’s commitment to fostering an inclusive environment for all golf players and enthusiasts. He said, “At Ikoyi Club Golf Section, we believe that golf should be accessible to all, regardless of age. Our Veterans’ Invitational is a testament to our dedication to inclusivity, welcoming seasoned golfers and members to come together in the spirit of friendly competition while leading a healthier lifestyle.”
Highlighting the club’s key activities for the year, Adekunle added, “In addition to the Veteran’s Invitational, we have a diverse calendar of events planned – for instance, we have introduced a year-round junior golf programme for children between ages 6-16 years which includes the Children Kitty Day among other tournaments.
“We also have a tournament and a scholarship programme planned for our caddies. Throughout the year, we will have championships and other initiatives within the golfing community. These activities aim to enhance the golfing experience for our members and strengthen the sense of community within our club.”
The Chairperson of the Committee, Mrs. Abah Oputa, echoed Adekunle’s sentiments, emphasizing the club’s dual focus on charity and sports development.
She said, “As ambassadors of the sport, in addition to encouraging our veterans to continue to lead a healthy lifestyle through the Veterans Invitational, we also recognize our responsibility to give back to society and nurture the next generation of golfing talent. This year, Ikoyi Club Golf Section is proud to launch several charitable initiatives aimed at supporting worthy causes within our community.
“Additionally, we are redoubling our efforts to provide mentorship and training opportunities for young golfers, ensuring that the sport continues to thrive for years to come.”
