Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed President Bola Tinubu as “Ore mi” during his visit to the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja on Sunday.

Ore Mi is a Yoruba word, literally transcribed as “my friend” in English.

Before delivering his remarks in Hindi during the meeting, Modi referred to Tinubu, saying, “His Excellency, my friend, ore mi.”

Modi’s use of the phrase “Ore mi” delighted Nigerians on social media, where many expressed excitement over the friendly exchange.

Dailyeconomy had earlier reported that Modi arrived in Abuja on Saturday evening and he was welcomed at the forecourt of the Villa at around 10:20 a.m on Sunday.

After  a ceremonial reception, Tinubu escorted the PM into his office for a closed-door meeting.

According to Tinubu’s spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, the two leaders were expected to discuss and sign several bilateral agreements aimed at strengthening relations between Nigeria and India.
