Iranian President rejects resignation rumours, vows to stand firm

Iranian President, Masoud Pezeshkian has rejected reports that he may resign, saying he will remain in office and continue serving the Iranian people.
Speaking in an interview, Pezeshkian said, “I will not resign, I will stand firm,” in an apparent response to rumours of repeated resignation threats amid growing political tensions in Tehran.
Similar reports have recently been denied by the Iranian presidency.
Pezeshkian also defended his administration’s record during its first two years in office, insisting that his government had not used its position for personal or family benefit.
“We are servants of the people; we are at the service of the people.
“In these two years, let them search and see if we have done anything for ourselves, our relatives, or our associates,” he said.
The president’s remarks come amid reported disagreements between his administration, hardline political factions and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) over negotiations with the United States and the distribution of decision-making authority.
Pezeshkian has previously dismissed claims that he repeatedly sought to step down, while officials in his office described such reports as fabricated.
