Aviation Minister, Festus Keyamo has led an on-site inspection of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) facilities on Tuesday, just a day after a fire incident disrupted operations.

Accompanied by FAAN’s Managing Director/Chief Executive Olubunmi Kuku, Keyamo toured the site and addressed the media.

“The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo (SAN), accompanied by the Managing Director/Chief Executive of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Olubunmi Kuku, today inspected facilities at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, following the fire incident that occurred yesterday,” FAAN in a statement on Tuesday stated.

Keyamo provided reassurance on the rapid response, highlighting the tour of a soon-to-open temporary terminal designed for seamless passenger processing.

He praised the first responders, saying they delivered “prompt and coordinated action in containing the incident and minimising disruption.”

Flight operations have fully resumed, with the minister emphasising safety, “He further assured the general public that flight operations have fully resumed and the airport remains safe and secure for travel.”
