Keyamo leads aviation stakeholders forum, outlines reforms to boost Nigeria’s aviation sector

The Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, led by Minister Festus Keyamo, SAN, hosted a stakeholders’ engagement forum at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos on Friday.

The event aimed to foster strategic partnerships and advance Nigeria’s aviation industry.

Key reforms highlighted according to a report shared on Friday, via the X (formally Twitter) handle of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, include strengthening industry regulation, modernising Lagos Airport, clearing financial obligations to foreign airlines, earning commendations from the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

The forum celebrated achievements by aviation parastatals, such as the NCAA in promoting aviation growth and sustainability.

The report reads, “The Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development led by the Mr. Festus Keyamo (SAN) today , February 28, 2025, has held stakeholders’ engagement forum on the ministerial mandate, policies and programme in the aviation sector at  Radisson Blu Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos.

“The forum, which is to foster strategic partnerships and advance Nigeria’s aviation industry,  highlighted a litany of achievements recorded by the aviation parastatals, including the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) in promoting aviation growth and sustainability.

“Prominent among  key reforms outlined by the Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo include new policies to strengthen industry regulation, the ongoing modernization of Lagos Airport to meet global standards and Nigeria’s clearance of financial obligations to foreign airlines which earned commendations from various aviation regulatory bodies, particularly International Air Transport Association (IATA).”
