The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Peter Obi has said he will concede the 2027 presidential election if the poll is free, fair and credible.
Obi made this known while responding to a question on whether he would accept defeat in the next presidential election.
“If the election is free, fair, and credible, I will.
“It’s the people who will decide who they want to serve them, and I will respect the will of the people,” he said.
However, Obi maintained his long-standing position that he won the 2023 presidential election, despite the official results placing him third behind Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Asked why he did not concede the 2023 election, Obi said, “I did, and as long as I live, I will maintain that I won the 2023 presidential election.”
