Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State has visited six soldiers injured in a recent counterterrorism operation in Kaiama on Tuesday, offering solidarity and financial aid amid ongoing security efforts.
In a statement released by the state government, the governor described the visit as a “get-well soon” gesture to the troops recovering at the Intensive Care Unit of Kwara State University Teaching Hospital.
The operation saw “several of the terrorists eliminated in the fierce encounter,” but came at a heavy cost, with three soldiers paying “the supreme price.”
Governor AbdulRazaq announced N20 million in support for each family of the fallen soldiers and N5 million for each of the injured.
He emphasised, “the sacrifices of the security forces are priceless,” while commending the hospital’s “quality of care and the facilities” – one of his key projects.
The governor also thanked the security forces, saying they provide vital “services to our fatherland.”
This visit follows heightened counterterrorism activities in the region, as Kwara continues to bolster defenses against threats.
