Lagos sensitises stakeholders on Electronic Physical Planning Permit System

The Lagos State Government, has today, sensitised key stakeholders on the Electronic Physical Planning Permit System (e-PPPS), a digital platform designed to streamline physical planning processes across the State.

Speaking at the stakeholders’ engagement held in Alausa, the Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Oluyinka Olumide, stated that the introduction of the e-PPPS underscores the State Government’s commitment to leveraging technology to enhance service delivery in the built environment.

A statement today said he noted that the initiative is a critical step toward establishing a fully digital infrastructure for urban management, while also improving the ease of doing business within Lagos State’s construction sector.

Dr. Olumide encouraged stakeholders and members of the public to actively engage with the platform, emphasising that its adoption would foster greater efficiency, accountability, and transparency in physical planning processes. He reiterated the Government’s resolve to ensure that all development activities in the State align with established regulatory standards.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Taxation and Revenue, Hon. Abdul Kabir Opeyemi Ogungbo, commended the initiative as a strategic move toward improving revenue generation and compliance within the built environment. He highlighted the importance of integrating digital solutions into governance systems to promote seamless service delivery and eliminate bottlenecks associated with manual processes.

Providing insight into the technical functionality of the platform, Mr. Victor Akinyelure, described the e-PPPS as a comprehensive “one-stop shop” for all physical planning needs. According to him, the web-based system facilitates the submission of applications, processing of approvals, issuance of permits, and stage certification, including building certification processes.

He further explained that the platform enables users to carry out all required procedures remotely, thereby eliminating the need for multiple visits to physical offices. “The system is designed to promote transparency, efficiency, and a smart processing experience for all users, in line with global best practices.” He said.

The Lagos State Government reaffirmed that the e-PPPS allows stakeholders to conveniently apply for permits and fitness certificates from any location, thereby simplifying procedures and reducing turnaround time.

Others at the event includes; the Permanent Secretary, Office of Physical Planning, Tpl. Olayinka Adebayo Wasiu, Executive Members of the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners, District Officers of the Office of Physical Planning, among others.
