Lagos taskforce busts beer parlour haven, nabs 56 suspects in midnight raid

Lagos State Environmental Taskforce has launched a pre-dawn crackdown at 0020hrs today, sweeping Akowonjo by Cele busstop on the Mainland to dismantle a notorious beer parlour turned crime hotspot.

Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, announced the operation on Saturday targeted rampant drug peddling, criminal elements, and illegal setups blocking traffic.

“The team observed the entire road has been converted to beer parlor, drug peddling at different level taking place and presence of criminal elements,” Wahab stated.

Officers seized chairs, tables, and other obstructions, fully clearing the area of environmental violations. In the process, they arrested 56 suspects, who face swift court arraignment.

Wahab reaffirmed the state’s iron-fist policy,“#ZeroToleranceLagos.”
