In its unrelenting efforts to get many residents of Lagos State on the database through collection of structured information/Biometric capturing so as to make adequate provisions for their needs and services, the Lagos State Residents’ Registration Agency (LASRRA) has launched a centre at the Blue Line Rail Terminal.
The event which took place at Marina, Lagos Station, was aimed at making many commuters who live in Lagos State, ply the corridor on a daily basis and are yet to register/validate with LASRRA key in the initiative, enjoy the benefits of registration and what the LAG-ID Card carriers tend to experience.
During the launch, the General Manager, LASRRA, Mrs. Bilikiss Adebiyi-Abiola, said that the Agency targets to have many registration centres scattered at different strategic locations, organisations including non-govermental organisations , institutions in which Blue Line Terminal is one of them.
According to her, “despite the fact that the Agency has 62 registration outlets spread across the five (5) divisions, it is the Agency’s plan to have many centres so that residents fulfil their civic responsibility.
“As you will agree with me that Lagos is the largest city in West Africa by population, size and the need to have many centres to serve the teeming population cannot be overlooked if we really want as many residents captured. This can be achieved by bringing the exercise closer to the residents, especially those that are too busy due to the nature of their work” she explained.”
A statement obtained by Daily Economy, signed by the Head, Public Affairs, LASRRA, Mrs. Lawal, B.A., said, she also disclosed during her brief that this gesture will be replicated at other terminals across the state in the not-too-distant future, so that no one is left behind as regards government’s plan for its residents.
Speaking further, she elaborated on the specific advantages the end product of the registration, which is the issuing of the LAG-ID Card tends to offer, emphasizing their multifaceted usage apart from being a legitimate form of identification.
She was quick to let the commuters know that the status of their cards can be checked by dialling the short USSD Code, *347*641# which is sent to the phone number used while registering.
“Note that the process of registration is not complete until you pick up the card when it is printed and a message is sent to your phone for pick up,” she said.
High point of the event was using the LAG-ID Card to board the train and ride with commuters from marina to mile 2.
