The Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA) has launched the ‘One Identity, One Lagos’ initiative aimed at enhancing residents’ access to government benefits and services.

The program seeks to create a unified identity management system for Lagos residents, simplifying verification processes and ensuring smoother delivery of social amenities.

Speaking at the Tradesmen and Artisans meeting tagged “Jamboree” which was organised by LASRRA on Tuesday at Adeyemi Bero Auditorium, Lagos, Bilikiss Adebiyi-Abiola, General Manager of the LASRRA, emphasised the importance of resident registration for unlocking numerous state benefits.

She stated, “The program will showcase what Lagos government has done to ensure the national database will provide all of you with easy access to all the wonderful benefits within Lagos State.

Seyi Lawal, Chairman of the House Committee on Science and Technology, also highlighted the value of the Lagos State ID card noting, “This ID card is a kind of a good sign. You can be able to get your own duplicate. For anyone of us, and he did what for Lagos state.”

The Commissioner for Women’s Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Bolaji Cecilia Dada, who was represented at the event emphasised inclusivity, saying, “We understand that training to communities like play in sustaining the local economy by addressing the Lagos ID card initiative to build their trades workshops and communities let us work together to ensure that no resident is left behind.”

Dr Emmanuella Zamba, CEO of Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA), outlined ongoing partnerships that facilitate health insurance access through LASRRA registration.

“In July 2024, our agency and LASRRA have been in an active partnership. If you have your residential number, you can visit any of our offices and get your details. Once you have your LASRRA ID, you can also use it to access care in some hospitals. This innovation reduces the distress of medical expenses,” Zamba noted.

In her remark, the Chief Executive Officer of Lagos State Employment Trust Fund, Feyisayo Alayande, linked the ID card to financial empowerment, stating, “Without LASRRA, no one can have access to loans. When you take a loan, you don’t pay back, you are limiting the opportunity for somebody else. Please reach out to my team members so they can help you to understand when the next opportunity arises.”

This concerted effort under the theme “One Identity, One Lagos” aims to provide every resident with a seamless identity system that opens doors to social services, healthcare, financial support, and economic inclusion.
