Man United is bigger than any individual — Carrick

Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick has dismissed suggestions that his future is the priority, insisting that results matter for the entire club rather than for him personally.
He mentioned this in a pre-match press conference at Carrington on Friday.
“I don’t need results. We all need results. It’s not about me.
“Manchester United is bigger than an individual, so please, I don’t go into every day thinking about me,” Carrick said.
He added, “It’s not about any individual player; it’s about this football club and its history.”
Carrick is under mounting scrutiny after United made their worst start to a Premier League season in 40 years, sitting 13th with just one win from six matches and going five games without a victory in all competitions.
His comments came ahead of United’s trip to rivals Leeds United on Sunday, with questions focused on whether positive results were essential to protect his job.
The former United and England midfielder also sought to calm internal tensions after defender Lisandro Martínez made explosive post-match comments directed at the club’s hierarchy.
Carrick said the squad had “moved on” from the episode and denied that the dressing room was divided.
“Whatever’s best for the football club and for the team on Sunday is the most important thing.
“It really is not about me,” Carrick said.
