Mudryk cleared to play for Chelsea after doping case resolution

Chelsea winger, Mykhailo Mudryk has been cleared to resume playing with immediate effect after his doping case was settled, paving the way for him to join the Blues’ pre-season tour in Hong Kong.
The Ukraine international, 25, had not featured in a competitive match since November 2024 after testing positive for a low concentration of meldonium in October 2024, which led to a provisional FA suspension in December 2024 and formal charges in 2025.
In April 2026, the FA imposed a four-year ban, which Mudryk appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
Under the resolution announced on Friday, Mudryk accepted that he committed the anti-doping rule violations charged but agreed to a period of ineligibility equal to the time already served, bringing his suspension to an end.
The FA said changes to WADA testing procedures mean that, while not retroactive, “if Mr Mudryk’s sample was collected today, the concentration of meldonium in the sample would not have been reported and no anti-doping rule violations would have resulted.”
With the appeal resolved, Mudryk is no longer ineligible and may return to competition immediately for both Chelsea and the Ukraine national team.
