NDLEA arrests businessman smuggling 127 Wraps of cocaine, intercepts multiple drug shipments

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a 52-year-old businessman, Ejiofor Godwin Emeka, at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) Kano for smuggling 127 wraps of cocaine weighing 1.388 kilograms concealed in his private parts and stomach.
In a statement obtained from the agency’s website on Sunday, NDLEA’s Director of Media & Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, revealed, “Ejiofor, who operates boutiques in Lagos and Onitsha, Anambra state, was taken into NDLEA custody upon his arrival from Bangkok, Thailand via Ethiopian Airlines flight ET 941 on Wednesday 8th October 2025 following credible intelligence.”
After a body scan confirmed drug ingestion, “a total of 58 wraps of cocaine were immediately recovered from his pant after which he was taken for excretion observation during which he egested 69 pellets of cocaine in seven excretions.”
In addition, NDLEA operatives intercepted three consignments of illicit drugs destined for the United Kingdom between October 9 and 10 at a courier company in Lagos, including 1.74 kg of methamphetamine concealed in glass ceramics and various opioids hidden in medical injections and capsules.
Other foiled shipments included 2.6 kg of skunk and 422 grams of tapentadol concealed in black soap tablets heading to Turkey, 169 grams of cocaine hidden in lady’s handbags bound for Australia, and 568 grams of strong cannabis strain disguised in herb containers destined for the United Arab Emirates.
Chairman/CEO of NDLEA, Brig Gen Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), commended the vigilance and professionalism of officers across multiple regions, urging them “to maintain their tenacity, professionalism and balanced approach to the drug control efforts of the Agency.”
