The Nigeria Police Force has hosted a high-level delegation from the United States Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) at Force Headquarters in Abuja, marking a key step in deepening bilateral ties on policing and internal security.

A statement on Saturday by CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, Force Public Relations Officer, revealed that Inspector-General of Police IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, received Deputy Assistant Secretary Maggie Nardi, alongside Senior Advisor Jacob Wright and Acting Director Grane Douglas.

The meeting reviewed ongoing collaborations and identified new opportunities to enhance institutional capacity.

Nardi reaffirmed INL’s dedication to the partnership, stating, “the INL’s commitment to supporting the Nigeria Police Force through expanded specialized training programmes and the provision of modern operational equipment.”

She stressed sustained collaboration to boost operational effectiveness.

Egbetokun expressed gratitude for the support, particularly in tactical training, and noted its impact on the Special Intervention Squad (SIS).

“He highlighted the positive impact of INL-supported training initiatives on the operational performance of the Special Intervention Squad (SIS), noting the professionalism and discipline displayed by its officers in recent operations,” a police statement detailed.

The IGP reiterated the Force’s resolve, saying it remains “committed to strengthening cooperation with the INL and other international partners, while adopting global best practices aimed at improving service delivery and ensuring a safer Nigeria.”
