Nigeria will prioritise people-centred foreign policy — FG

The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Sola Enikanolaiye, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to pursuing a people-centred foreign policy anchored on national interest, economic diplomacy, strategic autonomy, and sustainable development.

This was divulged in a statement obtained on Saturday from the Ministry of State for Foreign Affairs.

Ambassador Enikanolaiye made the remarks while receiving a delegation from the Society for International Relations and Awareness, led by its President, Owei Lakemfa, on a courtesy visit.

The delegation included academics, security experts and practitioners in international relations.

During the meeting, the Minister outlined the Ministry’s strategic direction, saying Nigeria’s foreign policy is being repositioned “to prioritise the welfare and prosperity of Nigerians through four key pillars: Demography, Development, Diaspora, and Democracy.”

The statement said the approach will guide the country’s diplomatic engagements and economic partnerships going forward.
