Nigeria’s Ufochukwu presents letters of credence to Israeli president

Nigeria’s Ambassador to Israel, Nkechi Linda Ufochukwu, has formally commenced her diplomatic assignment after presenting her Letters of Credence to Israeli President Isaac Herzog in Jerusalem.
The ceremony was held on Monday, August 3, 2026, according to a statement issued by Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“The presentation of the Letters of Credence formally marks the commencement of Ambassador Ufochukwu’s diplomatic assignment as Nigeria’s Ambassador to the State of Israel,” the Ministry said.
The ministry added that the ceremony reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening the “longstanding cordial relations between Nigeria and Israel.”
Speaking after the ceremony, Ambassador Ufochukwu pledged to deepen bilateral cooperation between both countries and advance Nigeria’s foreign policy objectives during her tenure.
Her mission, the statement said, would prioritise cooperation in trade and investment, agriculture, technology, security, innovation and cultural exchanges.
The ambassador also expressed her commitment to promoting stronger people-to-people ties between the two nations.
The Ministry said it was confident that Ufochukwu’s appointment would “further consolidate the strategic partnership between Nigeria and Israel” and create new opportunities for enhanced bilateral cooperation and sustainable development.
