The Nigeria Labour Congress has confirmed the arrest of its President, Joe Ajaero, by the operatives of the Department of State Services.

The NLC in a memo shared on its social media handle on Monday, stated that Ajaero was taken into custody on Monday morning at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, while preparing to board a flight to the United Kingdom for an official assignment.

NLC indicated that Ajaero was en route to attend the Trade Union Congress conference when he was apprehended.

The memo reads, “The Assault on Nigeria Workers Continues, President of the NLC, Comrade Joe Ajaero, was arrested and abducted by men of DSS at the Nnamdi Azikwe Airport Abuja this morning on his way to attend an official engagement of TUC United Kingdom and he is now detained at the office of the NSA. This intimidation and Assault must Stop!!!”
