The Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) has issued a public notice alerting citizens to a fake recruitment advertisement circulating online that falsely claims to offer employment opportunities with the agency.

In a statement posted on its official X account on Monday, the NRS said it had been alerted to a notice titled “Federal Inland Revenue Service – FIRS Job Vacancy – Replacement.”

The fraudulent advert directs applicants to submit CVs and applications to the email address recruit@replacementnhrmt.org and lists a deadline of 24 October 2026.

“The NRS wishes to state categorically that the notice is fraudulent and did not emanate from the Nigeria Revenue Service,” the agency said.

It reminded the public that the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has been succeeded by the Nigeria Revenue Service and that any purported recruitment notice issued in the name of FIRS should be treated with caution and independently verified.

The NRS stressed that it has not authorised or commenced any recruitment exercise and has not appointed any individual, agent or third party to conduct recruitment on its behalf.

“Members of the public are therefore advised to disregard the notice and exercise caution when responding to recruitment advertisements, messages, links or other communications purporting to originate from the NRS,” the notice stated.

The service further warned people not to make any payment, disclose personal or financial information, or submit certificates and identification documents in response to the purported exercise.

Any genuine recruitment by the NRS, it said, will be formally communicated only through the Service’s official website and authorised channels.

The public has also been encouraged to report suspicious recruitment communications to the appropriate authorities.
