The Special Intelligence Squad of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has intercepted an illegal attempt to siphon 20,000 litres of crude oil in Uzuaku, Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State.
The suspects allegedly tapped into a pipeline by installing a switch valve on a trunk line running beneath a railway track.
However, NSCDC operatives discovered and dismantled the illegal connection, preventing further siphoning.
This was made known in terse statement by NSCDC on Sunday.
It reads, “NSCDC CG’s SIS foils siphoning of about twenty thousand (20,000) litres of crude oil through illegal tapping of an installed pipeline by illegally connecting a switch valve to the trunk line passing through the railway track at Uzuaku town, Ukwa West LGA of Abia state.”
