Ogun Police nab suspected cultist, gun suspects

The Ogun State Police Command has announced several arrests and firearm recoveries in operations across Mowe, Sagamu, and Odeda, as part of efforts to curb crime.
DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, Police Public Relations Officer, in a statement on Sunday stated, “The Ogun State Police Command has recorded significant operational successes in its sustained efforts to rid the state of criminal elements, with multiple arrests made and illegal firearms recovered in separate intelligence-led and proactive operations.”
In Mowe on April 14, operatives arrested 36-year-old Opeyemi Anuoluwapo at Mowe Bus Stop, recovering a locally made single-barrel pistol, an expended cartridge, and charms.
He confessed to Eiye Confraternity membership.
Sagamu Quick Response Squad (QRS) teams struck twice: On April 17, they nabbed 30-year-old Asaye Ajibola on a Bajaj motorcycle at Lafarge along Sagamu/Ogijo Road, seizing a loaded single-barrel gun with nine cartridges.
The next day, April 18, 49-year-old Adedeji Olufemi was arrested on a Honda motorcycle at the same spot with a double-barrel gun and eight cartridges.
In Odeda on April 18 evening, vigilante Mutiu Sadiku accidentally shot three people at Osiele Sawmill.
Police, with Amotekun, arrested him and recovered the firearm; victims are stable in hospital.
All suspects are at State CID, Eleweran, for investigation.
CP Bode Ojajuni commended officers, vowing more operations against guns and cultism.
