Omokri hits back at Davido over “umu bingo” Instagram insult

Reno Omokri has fired back at Davido after the singer insulted him on Instagram with the phrase “umu bingo,” following Omokri’s criticism of Davido for using the 2026 FIFA World Cup to publicise Nigerian bandits and terrorists.

Omokri in a statement on Tuesday said Davido’s attack was “beneath you” and warned that giving terrorists global publicity harms Nigeria by aiding recruitment, funding and spreading fear.

He wrote, “publicity is the oxygen of terrorism,” citing Margaret Thatcher and UNESCO guidance urging public figures to deny terrorists media attention.

Omokri added that celebrity restraint after incidents such as the October 7 abductions helped avoid further harm, and referenced the #ChibokGirls campaign as an example where publicity, he says, compounded rescue difficulties and boosted militants.
