Oyo abduction: Tinubu orders specialised rescue unit

President Bola Tinubu has sympathises with the affected families after the abduction of pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

The president in a statement on Monday agreed that “no child should be taken from the safety of a classroom and no parent should have to endure this anguish.”

Tinubu said the communities’ request for a military base in the area is being “received urgent consideration.”

He announced he has directed the deployment of “a specialised security unit with advanced rescue capabilities to intensify efforts to secure the safe return of the abducted pupils and teachers.”

Following a visit by a high-level federal delegation to Esiele and Yawota communities in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, the president confirmed he has approved the recruitment of “1,000 forest guards in collaboration with the Oyo State Government.”
