Nigeria Police Force’s Force Intelligence Department Special Tactical Squad (FID-STS) has arrested two suspects—Chisom Goodnews (32) and Ahmed Adamu (22)—on April 9 in Akwanga, Nasarawa State, for vandalizing railway infrastructure.
This was made known in a statement signed on Monday by Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Placid.
Acting on intelligence, officers intercepted a trailer truck hauling 60 tonnes of stolen railway tracks and sleepers, hidden under groundnut shells.
The materials, worth over ₦400 million, were en route from Bauchi to Ilorin, Kwara State.
The driver was paid ₦2.5 million for the job.
Suspects offered ₦100 million to bribe officers, but the team rejected it.
The truck was impounded, and probes uncovered an organised syndicate with receivers awaiting delivery.
IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu praised the operatives’ integrity, vowing to dismantle the network and protect national assets.
