The Oyo State Police Command has denied claims that Sunday Igboho issued a fresh eviction notice to herders in Oyo State.

In a viral video circulating on social media on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, a voice which some people claimed to be Igboho’s voice could be heard giving an ultimatum to herders to leave Igboho, Oorelope, Local Government Area of Oyo State.

Reacting to the circulated video, the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, in a statement on Wednesday described the report as a complete falsehood and urged the public to disregard the claims.

The statement partly reads, “that “the viral video which surfaced during the early hours of Tuesday, 16/07/2024 was specifically designed by agents of mischief to disrupt the relative peaceful ambience enjoyed in the State by inciting violence and civil disturbances.

“No notice of eviction was pronounced by any individual or group on anyone at any period in time.”

However, Osifeso in the statement stated that the Commissioner of Police has tasked the supervising Area Commander in charge, to personally lead confidence-building patrols, as well as to increase the visibility of personnel around the jurisdiction, while more command’s operational, intelligence, and tactical assets have since been deployed to prevent any untoward occurrence.
