A lifeless body was found hanging from a mango tree in a bush area of Amichi, located in the Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra on May 16.

The Anambra Police Command spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga, reported that the discovery was communicated to the police by an unknown individual who used the victim’s phone to place the call.

Ikenga confirmed that the body has been identified and transported to a morgue, and efforts are underway to notify the deceased’s family.

The spokesperson stated that Ikioye Orutugu, the commissioner of police, has instructed officers to enhance surveillance and gather intelligence throughout the state. This directive aims to prevent crime and specifically investigate the details surrounding the incident in Amichi.

“The Anambra State Police Command is taking proactive measures to unravel the circumstances surrounding the unfortunate incident and to bring the perpetrators to justice,” said Ikenga.

Recall that two days ago, a lawyer identified as Rolex Iloakasia and his client were shot dead while returning from a court hearing in Anambra.

Ikenga said the two men were gunned down at about 11:30am in Egbebelu village, Nanka, in the Orumba north LGA of the state.
