Police rescue lawyer, niece from kidnappers’ den in underground tunnel

The operatives of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command have rescued a lawyer and his niece from kidnappers.
According to a trending video, the victims were rescued when operatives of the Command stormed an underground tunnel in a forest, where the victims were held hostage.
The operatives, acting on a tip-off, closed in on the place where the lawyer and his niece were kept and strenuously lifted a slab which was rolled over them by their captors, to bring them out of the tunnel.
A police officer could be heard saying during the rescue operation “Come out all of you, you are saved in Jesus’ name.”
However, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command spokesperson, ASP Timfon John, confirmed the development, stating that the victims are undergoing medical examination.
“There was rescue oppression by the Command, which was very successful.
“The victims are undergoing medical examination,” she confirmed.
