Pope Leo XIV slams leaders for funding war over education, healing

Pope Leo XIV, the U.S.-born pontiff, has condemned world leaders for prioritising weapons over human needs during his recent visit in Cameron.
He said, “The masters of war pretend not to know that it takes only a moment to destroy, yet often a lifetime is often not enough to rebuild. They turn a blind eye that billions are spent on killing and devastation. Yet the resources needed for healing, education and restoration are nowhere to be found.”
The Pope highlighted how resource exploitation funds arms, fueling cycles of destabilisation.
This aligns with his ongoing calls for disarmament and redirecting military budgets to education and rebuilding.
